Frequently asked questions

1. Is it true the scabs disappear after7-10 days?
Yes in my case after 10 days I didn’t wear a baseball cap when out and about. We had friends drop by to say hi and no one noticed a thing.

2. Is their much pain afterwards?
I would describe it as mild discomfort, but it was caused by the aloe vera I used to speed up the healing, when I stopped using it the discomfort went away.

3. Cost is it expensive?
True, its not cheap but with a procedure like this I didn’t want to cut corners or settle for 2nd best. Also, if I had gone for the glued on hairpiece effect it actually is not cheap either, you have to keep going back to have it reglued and then get a new hair piece after some years. When you ad this all up and compare the results, it is cheaper and far more superior. lastly, try to come when it suits the clinic and get discount for a session when 2000 grafts or more are required.

4. Is it really possible to go back to work the next day?
Actually yes. I didn’t, as I spent 2 weeks at home taking it easy with my family. But I could have worked if not the very next day but at least two days later. I had 3000 grafts and i came home at 10pm and was tired. Emotionally I was drained as this was a big day for me and long in the waiting.

5. Did you shower and wash your hair soon after?
Yes, the very next day I showered and carefully washed my new grafts, just letting the water rain down on me was very soothing.

6. What do you think of the ”strip graft” method?
Truth told, scary. I have seen pictures of this inferior technique and it doesn’t look good. A friend of mine has had this procedure and the new grafts are very thinly spaced out and have left a puncture effect around each graft. He is not happy with the result and has decided to keep his hair cut short. The problem now is he has a large visible scar across the back of his head. Ilter clinic has actually been able to retreat people who have had this procedure with far better results. I want my friend to come to Ilter but he needs time.

7. Is it worth the effort to travel all the way to Sweden?
YES.

8. How is the area where the grafts were taken from?
This is the big surprise. It feels and looks totally untouched. I have asked my wife if she can see a difference? Her reply was ”absolutely not”.
The donor area looks the same as before the procedure. Even I can’t figure out this one. I guess this proves the skill used by Dr Ilter in taking the grafts out and where he took them from.
